Amazon synopsis: “Madison Nichols, aspiring actress, is floundering. Her rent is due and she needs a job. Desperately. After getting a tip about an open position, she rushes to Jameson Technologies and meets CEO Jared Jameson. Unfortunately, due to a misunderstanding, she is put in the awkward position of pretending to be his girlfriend. Not the job she was applying for. And when she finds out Jared lied to her to get what he wanted, she decides to get back at him. In front of his family.
Jared is stunned when Madison announces they are getting married. She pushed her revenge too far. How can he tell them it’s all a lie? And when his sick aunt asks them to be married before she dies, Madison comes up with a hair-brained plan to hire an actor and stage a fake wedding.
What they both don’t know is Jared’s father has found out about the fake wedding. And he’s got his own hair-brained plan.
This is a sweet romance, appropriate for any age.”
Where did I find this book: Again this was a Bookbub find and I’m glad I found it. I read most of this book while at work (front desk at a museum) in between guests and I had a lot of coworkers ask me what I was smiling about.
How it’s written: This 315 page novel is written in third person with most of its focus on Jared and Madison but occasionally the reader gets to learn more than they know. It’s a very easy read and honestly very fun.
Why I like the book: The thing I liked most about this book is how goofy Madison tries to behave. No matter what she does, it just endears his family more to her. And him. He is in complete awe of her craziness and it’s adorable. Madison and Jared couldn’t be more different but it’s so fun to watch their characters develop and almost infuriating at times how close they are to sharing their feelings.
Final Thoughts: I have to admit, it started a little too much like 50 Shades of Gray and I was worried it was going to be more raunchy than I wanted but I was so wrong. This book is so fun and cute. You could definitely read this with a very conservative crowd.
I would closely compare this book to The Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. It is hilarious and entertaining all the way through.
